Society long weekend to York, Whitby, Richmond and Barnard Castle.

Thursday 27th April 2017,  Twenty five members set off for a long weekend break. We travelled with Chauffeurhire Coaches of Chipping Sodbury to the Queens Hotel York. We arrived at 3.30pm, after stopping for lunch at Planters Garden Centre in Tamworth. This gave us time to have a wander around the centre of York before evening meal at 6.30pm. Early Friday morning we set off to Pickering to board the 9.25am Train to Whitby, arriving at approx 11.09am.

Members spent the whole day in Whitby, lots to see and the bonus was to view a stage of the Tour de Yorkshire as they rode through the town centre towards the finish in Scarborough.

Saturday morning we left the Hotel at 9.00am to visit Richmond. With two museums, a medieval Castle , gardens and a market, plenty to keep ones interest. We also had booked a tour of the Georgian Theatre, which was really enjoyed by the members, perhaps the highlight of the break. Sunday morning, after breakfast, we left for the return journey home, stopping, as before, at Planters Garden Centre for Lunch. The Hotel was first Class in every respect rooms/food/staff were all excellent. We must also mention our Coach Driver,Paul, who helped make the trip most enjoyable.
