Nothe Fort Trip: Saturday 2nd September 2023

Nothe Fort is proud to be Weymouth’s number one museum and heritage attraction.

Saturday 2nd September 2023 the Kingswood History Society left Kingswood park main gate at 8.30 am to visit the Nothe Fort, Weymouth .

The entire visit was sponsored by Quartet which enabled members to enjoy the coach a buffet and entry fee to the Napoleonic coastal Fort situated between Weymouth and Portland not to be confused with Portland Castle.

The Fort was built as a defence against Napoleon in case of an invasion of England. There were other Forts built around the coast as it was considered a real threat that Napoleon may invade.
The society members boarded the coach at Kingswood Park main gates and we were on our way, stopping en-route for a refreshment break etc.

Upon arriving we had time to have a good look around before stopping for a pre booked buffet and as it was a lovely day we were able to dine alfresco.  After the buffet we were than able to see the parts of the fort not seen and also retrace our footsteps to parts already visited . To sum up A big thank you to Quartet also to Chauffeur Hire of Chipping Sodbury for providing a superb coach and a very good driver.

Last but not least our thanks to Quartet.
