David Hardwick, a member of the South Gloucestershire Mines Research Group, gave a very detailed and in-depth talk on the history of this last working mine in the Bristol area. A drift mine opened in 1954 and closed just 9 years later in 1963. Why did the mine come about ? Trip to Portsmouth Maritime Museum

The society is looking to organise a trip to the Portsmouth Maritime Museum on Friday 6th September. £10 for members, £20 for non members. Price of trip to include coach travel and admission to museum. Trip will only go ahead if we have reasonable numbers to fill the coach. Money returnable should trip not proceed.
