Andy gave an entertaining and captivating talk of his various experiences as an Auctioneer. Each exhibit having its own historical significance.

The auction house is now called the Bristol and Bath Auctioneers (Auctioneum) formerly East Bristol Auctioneers and can be found on Memorial Road in Hanham. It is probably the busiest salesroom in the country with more than 5000 items per month. Over 2000 bidding online.

The showroom regularly has themed auctions, quite popular is British Comedy. Some of the items with sell price:

Script for 4 Candles £28k.

Fallen Madonna with the Big Boobies £15k.

Fools and Horses Robin Reliant £24k.

Mr Blobby £8.5k; the script for a Fawlty Towers episode was found at the Kingswood Museum.

The recent story of the googly eyed fox in The Times was particularly interesting. Bought for £50, someone recognised it as a Tasmanian Tiger (Thylacine, extinct in 1936). Exceedingly rare and sold for £50k. Funnily enough someone has just walked in with another.

Local interest was the Bristol Old Vic Tokens (28 exist) from the 18^th century used to fund the building and allows free entry, which is honoured today. World record of £8,600.

Other notable sales: Dave Prowse memorabilia £1m and donated to Alzheimers. Bristol Zoo memorabilia £161k, First edition Hobbit from a house on the Portway £43k.

Finally, the most expensive item, was an envelope posted through the door that contained Gandhi’s spectacles. No verification could be made but they sold for £260k.
